Hi, I’m Jay

I believe that exploration goes hand in hand with curiosity and creativity. The combo of the three leads to the most honest and authentic outcome (no matter the medium).

If you’re into that, I’d love to hear from you!

Concepting and Storytelling

Girdwood Health Clinic needed to more effectively communicate their comprehensive suite of services to new and existing clients. After a careful brand audit, internal and external interviews, and evaluating the merits of a rebrand, the best course of action was a full overhaul.

I needed to capture their ethos and deep connection to the community, and began by showing them what was possible with some mood board explorations.

With chief suite executives and select board members, a naming workshop and a concept and visioning session led to the decision to rebrand as Turnagain Community Health.

This new name and look more adequately communicate their mission to provide quality healthcare services to the greater Turnagain area, and give them room to grow in the future.

Teamwork

The Alaska Native Arts Foundation wanted to create a database for Alaska Native artists.

This comprehensive site is a place where creators can come together to share ideas and resources, get connected with grants or classes, find fellow creators from different regions and disciplines, and promote their work.

Collaborating with the web developer, directory artists, and foundation shareholders, I was able to produce wireframes and functional mockups for the Foundation to gain interest from new artists and secure financing from potential investors.

A project like this is a great example of the kind of thing that’s possible when creatives band together, for each other.

Creative Leadership

The Moose’s Tooth has been an Anchorage staple since 1996. While maintaining the existing brand, it was important to the company to explore new visual possibilities with the help of different local artists and mediums.

Over the years, we produced countless beer labels, concert posters, and merchandise items. From initial concepting and product sourcing, to working with artists to create the artwork and photographing the final product—I have had my hands in all of it.
